Unemployment Benefits Reports

The monthly unemployment benefits reports are updates for Washington state.

The Unemployment Insurance (UI) program provides unemployment benefits to eligible workers who become unemployed through no fault of their own, and meet certain other eligibility requirements. The following resources provide information on individuals who have applied for and/or received unemployment benefits.

We provide this data in four reports:

  • Unemployment benefits by legislative district.
  • Unemployment benefits by congressional district.
  • Unemployment benefits by county.
  • Outstanding federal unemployment insurance debt.

Due to a transition to a new system, we are only able to update the 2017 Washington state unemployment benefits by county. We are not able to update the Washington state and federal unemployment benefits by Legislative and Congressional districts, nor the outstanding federal unemployment insurance debt, at this time. We will do an addendum for the February through May reports once the data are received. Until that time, these reports contain the county data only. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The data source for benefit payments is the U.S. Dept. of Labor, ETA 5159, Claims and Payment Activities. The trust fund balance source is the U.S. Dept. of Labor, ETA 2112, UI Financial Transaction Summary, Unemployment Fund; state borrowing, Federal Unemployment Account (FUA).

The Labor Market and Performance Analysis division also provides information on Washington state’s unemployment insurance trust fund current and projected balances, benefits and employer contributions at the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund Forecast website.
