We will answer questions and accept written comments at the meeting. In general, soil is contaminated with antimony, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, and zinc from past lead and zinc mining. Nearby surface waters are also contaminated from runoff.

Ecology is recommending EPA designate certain areas of the state as attainment or unclassifiable for the 2010 Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). Comments and requests for a public hearing must be received by May 26, 2017. Hearing will only be held if requested. If a hearing is requested, the comment period will be extended through June 5, 2017. If no hearing request is received by the deadline, cancellation of this hearing will be posted on this calendar.

Ecology has issued an Enforcement Order for a Remedial Investigation (RI), Feasibility Study (FS), and draft Cleanup Action Plan (CAP) at the Temple Distributing Carson Oil site. The Site has petroleum in soil and groundwater. The RI will provide information about where the contamination is located and how far it has spread. The FS will look at different options to clean up the site. Once the Supplemental RI and FS are done, a cleanup option will be selected and a CAP will be developed.

The FS evaluates cleanup options. The site was contaminated from train refueling and other industrial activities. Areas of soil are contaminated, and a 7-acre plume of petroleum rests on groundwater 170 feet underground.

Boise Cascade Wood Product's Kettle Falls Plywood facility requests approval to replace their C11 and C13 cyclones with new high efficiency cyclones that satisfy the Reasonably Available Control Technology requirement. This replacement will prevent fugitive dust emissions that may be produced by the deterioration of the previous equipment. No increase in emissions or production will result from this replacement.
