Other Mixed Waste Permits

In addition to providing oversight and permitting for cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy Hanford Site, the Nuclear Waste Program oversees mixed waste permits at the waste treatment facility Perma-Fix Northwest, and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Ecology oversees a state Model Toxics Control Act remedial investigation/feasibility study at the commercial Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility subleased by US Ecology Washington, Inc., The French nuclear fuels fabricator Framatome (formerly AREVA NP, Inc.), formerly had a mixed waste permit that was in effect until February 2, 2020. Framatome is still generates mixed waste so the Nuclear Waste Program does waste generator inspections at Framatome.

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard

Ecology has issued a permit for storage of mixed wastes at the Mixed Waste Storage Area at the U.S. Navy's Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, located in Bremerton, Washington. The current permit was issued March 88, 2022 and will expire on April 18, 2032.
