[TSD ID#: S-2-5] Located in Hanford’s 200 West Area, the 222-S Laboratory began operating in 1951. The name clarifies that the unit only includes the four permitted areas inside the 222-S Laboratory. The areas the permit covers are the 219-S Tank System, the 222-S Dangerous and Mixed Waste Storage Area, Room 4-E storage area, and the northern part of Room 2-B storage area. Today, the lab supports work across Hanford.
