Nonradioactive Dangerous Waste Landfill Closure Unit Group 20 (CUG-20)

[ TSD ID#: D-6-1 ] Located on the Central Plateau a few miles from the fuel processing and waste storage areas in the 200 Areas, these two landfills adjoin each other. They started receiving waste in 1973. Wastes in NRDWL came from lab work, processing, maintenance and transportation across Hanford. Last waste receipt was in 1988. Wastes in the Solid Waste Landfill (SWL) are not subject to dangerous waste regulations. Last waste receipt was in 1996. Because the landfills adjoin, the whole area will be handled under the more stringent dangerous waste regulations.
