KING COUNTY SHOPS

The Washington Department of Ecology works to clean up contaminated properties throughout the state. Cleanup projects vary greatly in size and complexity. Some are small and relatively routine (for example, cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks). Many cleanups are large, complex projects that require engineered solutions.

In addition, Ecology regulates more than 9,500 underground storage tanks at more than 3,600 facilities (both private businesses and public entities). We work to ensure that these tanks are installed, managed, and monitored in a manner that prevents releases into the environment.

This site has been identified as having confirmed or suspected contamination that could harm people and the environment. It is currently in the state cleanup process under the Model Toxics Control Act. At this time, more than 12,600 contaminated sites have been identified in Washington. More than half of them are considered to be cleaned up. The remainder, including this site, are in various stages of the cleanup process. More information about this site is available by clicking on the links in the right-hand column.
