Abstract:

These color oblique aerial photos were taken at intervals between 1976-2017 along the shorelines of Puget Sound, portions of the Pacific coast of Washington, Washington's inland waters, and the Washington side of the lower Columbia River. Each photo represents approximately 1.5 miles of shoreline length. Shoreline aerial photos can be viewed on Ecology's Coastal Atlas: https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/shorephotoviewer.

Purpose:

These photos are intended to educate the public about Washington's shoreline and to guide regional land use decisions.

Source Materials: The source materials were hard copy color photos. These photos were scanned using a flat bed scanner at 300 dpi. The photo points were "heads up" digitized from the photo flight lines indicated on 1:15,000 scale maps.

Photo labeling: Photos are labeled with a nineteen character name. The first three characters are an abbreviation indicating the county name, followed by a four character string indicating the month and year the photos were taken, then a space followed by a three digit identification, beginning at 001 at county line numbered along the shoreline and ending at the next county line.
