Occupational Mortality Database

The data on this website may be used to investigate associations between occupations and causes of death.

The website displays the proportional mortality ratios (PMRs) that were computed from deaths occurring in Washington State between 1950 and 2010. These deaths were coded and grouped into occupation and cause-of-death categories. PMRs were computed for each occupation by cause-of-death grouping. For each grouping, PMRs were also calculated by age group, and by calendar year period. The data display may be sorted by occupation, by cause-of-death, by the value of the PMR, by the value of the p-value associated with each PMR, and by combinations of these items. PMRs were computed separately for men and for women.

Data was produced by Samuel Milham, Jr, MD MPH and Eric Ossiander.

The PMR tables are updated approximately every ten years.
