Skokomish River salmon seasons and daily limits

Action: Opens salmon and gamefish seasons on the Skokomish River.

Effective Date: Effective immediately until further notice. See specific days opened below.

Species affected: Salmon and gamefish.

Location: Skokomish River (Mason County) from the mouth to the Bonneville Power Lines upstream of Highway 101.

Other information: From the mouth to Highway 106 Bridge: Night closure, anti-snagging rule, and single point barbless hooks are required. Gamefish is open October 1 until further notice; release all gamefish. Salmon: Open August 3 through August 25, and September 15 until further notice. August 3 through August 25: Daily limit 2 salmon. Release chum and wild chinook. Anglers must keep the first 2 salmon, if legal to do so and stop fishing for the day. September 15 through October 15: Daily limit 6 salmon. Up to 4 adults may be retained. Release chum and Chinook. October 16 until further notice: Daily limit 6 salmon. Up to 4 adults may be retained. Release chinook.

From the Highway 106 Bridge to the Highway 101 Bridge: Night closure, anti-snagging rule, and single point barbless hooks are required. Gamefish is open October 1 until further notice; release all gamefish. Salmon: Open only August 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25, September 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30; and October 1 until further notice. August 3 through August 25: Daily limit 2 salmon. Release chum and wild chinook. Anglers must keep the first 2 salmon, if legal to do so and stop fishing for the day. September 15 through October 15: Daily limit 6 salmon. Up to 4 adults may be retained. Release chum and chinook. October 16 until further notice: Daily limit 6 salmon. Up to 4 adults may be retained. Release chinook.

From Highway 101 Bridge to Bonneville power lines (4718.18'N, 12311.26'W): Gamefish season is open immediately until further notice. Release all fish. Selective gear rules apply. It is unlawful to fish from a floating device equipped with an internal combustion motor.

Reason for action: Harvestable salmon are available allowing the Skokomish River to open for recreational angling opportunity.
