Lake Chelan Chinook salmon fishing to be extended

Action: Extends Chinook salmon fishing.

Effective dates: June 1 until further notice.

Species affected: Land locked summer Chinook salmon.

Location: All of Lake Chelan, except within 400 feet of the mouths of all tributaries.

Reason for action: Preliminary efforts to provide a salmon fishery based on triploid summer chinook stocking have been successful. However, much information concerning abundance and fish origin is needed to guide future management decisions. Sampling of salmon caught in the sport fishery is designed to provide this information.

Other Information: Minimum size is 15 inches, Daily limit of one salmon. No catch record card is needed. Land locked summer chinook are not listed or protected under the Endangered Species Act.
