FISHING RULE CHANGE
WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091 |
September 7, 2007
Action:
Night closure, non-buoyant lure and stationary gear restrictions are in effect on the Kalama River from the mouth to the lower salmon hatchery intake pipe. Only fish hooked inside the mouth may be retained.
Species affected:
All species
Effective dates:
Immediately until further notice.
Other information:
The fly fishing only season from the natural gas pipeline crossing to the deadline at the intake of the lower salmon hatchery remains in effect Sept. 1 through Oct. 31. Motors are prohibited upstream of the Modrow Bridge.
Reason for action:
The dry weather has caused the flows in the Kalama to remain low. The flows are similar to late summer. Snagging of Chinook, coho and wild steelhead is occurring regularly. These regulation changes are needed to curtail illegal activities.
