Action:
Closes retention of hatchery Chinook in Areas 5 and 6.
Effective Date:
Effective 12:01 a.m. Aug. 5, 2007.
Species affected:
Chinook salmon.
Location:
Catch Record Area 5 (Sekiu) and the portion of Area 6 west of Ediz Hook at Port Angeles.
Reason for action:
Estimates indicate that the Chinook quota will be harvested by the end of the day Aug. 4, 2007.
Other information:
Retention of wild Chinook is already prohibited. With this regulation, all Chinook must be released in Area 5 and all of Area 6. Both areas remain open to salmon fishing for pink, sockeye, and hatchery coho. Pink salmon catches should be on the increase. Single-point barbless hooks are still required.
