Cowlitz River fishing boundary change

Action: Allow fishing up to posted markers located 100 feet (previously 400 feet) below Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam. Fishing remains closed within 100 feet of the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam.

Effective dates: Immediately until further notice.

Species affected: Salmon and gamefish

Location: Cowlitz River below Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam.

Reasons for action: Hatchery escapement is expected to be met and surplus coho are available for harvest.

Other information: The salmon daily limit through December 31 will be as follows: Six fish but no more than four adults, except only two adult Chinook. Wild coho and chum must be released and all Chinook must be released from Blue Creek to Mill Creek.
