Dates added for harvest of all shrimp species including spot shrimp in Marine Areas 6, 7 East, 7 South, 7 West, 8-1, and 8-2.

Action: Additional opportunities to harvest all shrimp including spot shrimp beginning July 14 in Marine Areas 6 (excluding the Discovery Bay Shrimp District), 7 East, 7 South, and 7 West according to the schedule below. Also reopening are Marine Areas 8-1 and 8-2 on July 14th only, with limited hours and a restriction on the number of pots per boat.

Effective dates by area:

Marine Area 6 (excluding the Discovery Bay Shrimp District):

Open July 14 through July 17 for all shrimp species

Open July 28 through July 31 for all shrimp species

Marine Area 7 West:

Open July 14 through July 17 for all shrimp species

Open July 28 through July 31 for all shrimp species

Marine Area 7 South:

Open July 14 through July 17 for all shrimp species

Marine Area 7 East:

Open July 14 through July 17 for all shrimp species.

Marine Areas 8-1 and 8-2:

Open on July 14 from 7: 00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. for all shrimp species. Boats harvesting in MA 8-1 and 8-2 will be limited to two pots per boat. Divers may take shrimp by hand or hand-held device from 7:00 p.m. until midnight on July 14 in Marine Area 8-2 only.

Species affected: All shrimp species, includes: spot shrimp, coonstripe shrimp, dock shrimp, pink shrimp, and sidestripe shrimp.

Locations: Marine Areas 6 (excluding the Discovery Bay Shrimp District), 7 East, 7 South, 7 West, 8-1, and 8-2.

Reason for action: To harvest recreational shrimp (primarily spot shrimp) consistent with State/Tribal management agreements.

Additional information: The daily limit of shrimp in Puget Sound from June 1st through the end of the season is 10 pounds of all shrimp species, with a maximum of 80 spot shrimp (when spot shrimp harvest is allowed). Areas 6 and 7 will be open "daylight hours only". "Daylight hours only" means that pots can be set and retrieved from 1 hour before official sunrise to 1 hour after official sunset on each open day. All traps must be removed from the water during periods when fishing is closed. Hours for Areas 8.1 and 8.2 are listed above with date and area information.

The ability to use shrimp pots with a minimum mesh of 1/2 inch will be temporarily suspended during the dates and times listed above in Marine Areas 7 East, 8-1, and 8-2 when spot shrimp are allowed to be harvested.
