FISHING RULE CHANGE

Action:
Closes all recreational crabbing.
Effective date:
Immediately, until further notice.
Species affected:
Crab
Location:
Waters of Marine Area 1, Marine area 2 south of Point Chehalis, Marine Area 2-1 (Willapa Bay) and Marine Area 2-2 (Grays Harbor) .
Reason for action:
Test results from the Washington Department of Health show that crab in these areas are not safe for human consumption. Levels of domoic acid, detected through routine testing have exceeded the federally established action level.
Additional Information:
While the Columbia River and the portion of Marine Area 2 north of Point Chehalis are open please check for possible closures before heading out as testing continues in these areas.
