Chinook retention prohibited on mainstem Columbia River below Bonneville Dam beginning October 1

Action: Retention of chinook will not be allowed in the Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam beginning Oct. 1, 2004.

Effective date: Oct.1, 2004

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Mainstem Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam.

Reason for action: The pre-season chinook allocation for this fishery will be achieved by Oct. 1. The fishery will continue through December for adipose fin-clipped (hatchery) coho and hatchery steelhead.

Other information: The fishery above Bonneville Dam remains open for chinook retention through the end of December.
