Action:
Close recreational fishing for Pacific halibut in the coastal waters off Westport
Effective date:
11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2004
Species affected:
Pacific halibut
Location:
Marine Catch Record Area 2, which extends from the Queets River south to Leadbetter Point
Reason for action:
The catch quota for Pacific halibut in this area is projected to be taken by the end of the day Saturday, July 3. The fishery will remain closed for the remainder of the season.
Other information:
Fishing for halibut in other areas are not affected by this action. Halibut fishing will remain open in Puget Sound east of the Sekiu River, Hood Canal (Area 12) will remain closed to fishing for halibut.
