FISHING RULE CHANGE
WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091 |
April 29, 2004
Action:
The season for recreational lingcod will not open on May 1, 2004, as previously scheduled.
Effective Date:
May 1 through June 15, 2004
Species affected:
Lingcod
Location:
Marine Area 12 (Hood Canal south of the Hood Canal Bridge).
Reason for action:
Levels of dissolved oxygen are at very low levels in Hood Canal and are detrimental to fish health. An emergency order in February 2004 closed recreational fishing for bottomfish, other than lingcod in Hood Canal. This emergency closure is needed to prevent additional stress mortality to the lingcod during the period of adverse water conditions
