FISHING RULE CHANGE
WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091 |
May 31, 2013
Action:
Spring chinook fishing on the Snake River will close immediately in the Clarkston area.
Species affected:
Spring chinook
Location:
Clarkston:
Snake River from the intersection of Steptoe Canyon Road with the Wawawai River Rd on the Whitman County shore up-river approximately 12 miles to the Washington state line (from the east levee of the Greenbelt boat launch in Clarkston northwest across the Snake River to the WA / ID boundary waters marker on the Whitman County shore).
Reason for action:
Based on the updated spring chinook run size estimate (about 75% of the preseason prediction), and the estimated harvest for the entire Snake River within WA, the Snake River fisheries have nearly achieved the harvest Snake River allocation for the reduced run size.
Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on fishing seasons and regulations. Fishing rules are subject to change. Check the WDFW Fishing hotline for the latest rule information at (360) 902-2500, press 2 for recreational rules.
