JUVENILE REHABILITATION ACADEMY PROCESS ASSESSMENT (JRA-PA) #1046

Training requirements for or corrections personnel is detailed in RCW 43.101.220 and WAC 139-10-210.  Corrections personnel are required to complete basic training within six months of the start of their full time employment.

The assessment of the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities specific to these JR classifications: Security Officer 1, Residential Counselor, Counselor Assistant, Supervisor, Community Counselor, and Coordinator.

Upon completion of this three day course learners will:

Demonstrate skill and knowledge necessary for new Juvenile Rehabilitation employees to effectively manage youth in their care in a residential or community setting.


Students must complete mandatory on-boarding training before attending JRA-PA:
New Employee Orientation

  • Suicide Prevention and Intervention
  • WA State Ethics in Government
  • Prison Rape Elimination Act
  • Dealing with Resistive Youth or Community Safety Training
  • DSHS Diversity and Cultural Competency

Initial Mandatory Trainings

  • Coaching on the Floor
  • Case Management
  • Re-entry
  • Trauma informed care
  • ACT/TPPN
  • Youth who Sexually Offend Overview


This Academy applies to:

  • Department of Social and Health Services- Rehabilitation Administration-Juvenile Rehabilitation employees.

  • Integrated Treatment Model Overview
  • Positive Youth Development
  • Communication
  • Case Managers and Security Issues

 

Day Two:

 

  • Behavioral Health Issues
  • Residential Treatment Model and Transition and Re-entry
  • Re-entry planning and Re-entry Team Meeting

 

Day Three:

 

  • Juvenile Justice Issues and Legal Issues
  • Diversity and Inclusions
  • Case Management: Case planning and Case staffing

All registration is on a first come first serve basis. Once a class is full, CJTC will start adding applications to the next available class.
