NEW! BLEA TAC Officer Opening: Closes March 31, 2014
The Basic Law Enforcement Academy is expecting to fill 2-3 openings for TAC Officer during the next 6 months. This position is a three year contract with reimbursement of salary and benefits to the employing agency. New Training Materials Available
Law enforcement officers across the state of Washington, now have access to Sikh American cultural awareness training materials upon request. WSCJTC is collaborating with the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF) in distributing valuable training materials. Materials include the video On Common Ground, which provides an overview of Sikh American cultural practices, describes Sikh articles of faith, explores common misconceptions, and presents strategies and best practices to use in non-emergency situations when interacting with community members – as well as reference cards with officer-safety and cultural engagement recommendations. Since 2006, the WSCJTC has been mandated per WAC 139-05-300, to verify annually that every peace officer certified per RCW 43.101.095, has completed a minimum of 24 hours of in-service training in the prior year of service.
