Course Description
:

This 40 hour class teaches the basic skills necessary to prepare and present knowledge and psychomotor based training in a classroom environment. This class is best suited for students who have less than two years in course delivery and no formal training in instructional techniques, but is open to those of all skill levels. A high level of student participation is required. During the week, the student will develop and deliver three separate presentations on job-related topics.  A non-expiring certificate is issued for successfully passing the class.  Classes have a maximum of 21 students. Topics include:

  • The learning process – adult learning principles and styles, environments
  • Systematic design, development and delivery of training
  • Methods of instruction for teaching both theory and skills
  • Instructor roles and responsibilities
  • Facilitation skills
  • Using training aides effectively

Dress Code & Identification:

  • Uniforms, agency logo clothing or business casual attire is appropriate for classroom wear.
  • Visitors attending training at WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus.  If you are not wearing agency identification, you will be asked to check in at the front desk and will be provided with a clip-on visitor's identification card.

Prerequisite:   Current employment in the criminal justice field


Cost
: $300 (Price Increase on Aug 7, 2015)


Cancellation/No Show:

  • Fee: $300 for No Show or Late Cancellation.
