A four day (32 hour) training program designed for law enforcement officers who routinely use surveillance as one of their investigative techniques. The course is designed to provide the students with the knowledge and skills to successfully conduct and properly document their surveillance activities.
History has shown that one of the major investigative tools used to combat crime, Gangs, and organized criminal organizations is "Surveillance." There has also been a growing and significant increase in the investigating and tracking of profits, investments, assets, and currency of criminal organizations. Today the leaders and operatives of criminal organizations are much more organized and covert in reference to their criminal proceeds. In order to combat their complex concealment of profits, law enforcement must be able to covertly locate and identify their criminal assets. The old age technique of surveillance coupled with today's technology gives law enforcment the potential of locating criminals, dismantling criminal organizations, locating and seizing the criminal profits, thus working at permanently disabling criminal organizations.
Surveillance is an "art" that can only be perfected through proper training and a tremendous amount of practice. The old saying "practice makes perfect" does not necessarily apply. The correct saying should be "perfect practice makes perfect performance." The students will experience practical hands-on surveillance in realistic scenarios that mimic some of the complex criminal organizations, their assets, and other crimes in which surveillance is needed. The practical scenarios challenge the students to maintain their covert role while attempting to follow the suspects. All of the instructors for this course have extensive on-the-job experience in all phases of surveillance. They have also conducted numerous surveillance training courses around the United States, as well as the World.
In addition to practical surveillance techniques, the students are required to fully document all of their surveillance via notes, photographs, video, etc. A complete flow chart of practical surveillance will be created daily by the students. This flow chart will also be supported by video and pictures captured each day.
The instructors for the training are provided by Undercover Training and Consulting LLC and are Dave Redemann and Brandon James.
