Mandated by WAC 139-10-210.
Designed to provide training for adult probation officers. All employees whose primary job function is the case management of offenders under county/city supervision, to include: assessment, case planning, counseling, supervision, and monitoring.
Per WAC 139-10-235, the MPCA is eighty (80) instructional hours in length and includes, but not limited to, the following subject matter areas:
Assessment, Motivation, Goal Setting/Action Planning, Monitoring and Intervention
Interpersonal Skills, Interviewing, Classification, Supervision and Discipline, Offense Prevention
Dealing with Aggressive and Resistive Behavior, Legal Issues, Report Writing, Counseling Techniques, Managing Information
1. Please submit the completed Basic Academy Application and Notice of Hire (Corrections Division) to the Registrar via email at:
. Faxed documents will no longer be accepted after 4/1/2016. If you need assistance with scanning, please contact your IT staff.
2. Registration letters will be sent out via email to the Training Manager/Supervisor listed on the Basic Academy Application. If you require additional notification to be sent to staff, please ensure they are listed as well.
3. Once the selection process has been completed, Acceptance Letters will be sent out via email to the Training Manager/Supervisor.
4. Billing is completed once the Academy session is complete. Please see below for details;
*Effective July 1, 2014 WSCJTC was mandated by legislature to bill a 25% cost-share to our stakeholders for each academy student. The cost-per-student varies based on total program cost. A memorandum (PDF) explaining the cost-share implementation was distributed via email on March 30, 2014. Private Contractors & Tribal Agencies will be billed the full-cost of Academy services.
