Medicaid Administrative Match (MAM)
The Medicaid Administrative Match (MAM) program provides partial federal reimbursement to qualified governmental entities for performing administrative activities that support the goals of the Medicaid state plan. MAM activities include outreach, assistance with Medicaid eligibility determination and coordination of activities for people who are potentially eligible for Medicaid or who are current Medicaid recipients. Non-governmental entities are not eligible to participate in this program. An example of a reimbursable activity is: "Identifying children and families who are eligible in need of Medicaid Services, and providing assistance in helping them access these services."
Washington State's MAM program is administered through the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Health and Recovery Services Administration (HRSA) oversees the administration of the MAM Contracts for the governmental entities listed in the links to the left of this page.
The goals of the MAM program include:
- Administering an effective, efficient statewide MAM program that supports the goals of the Medicaid state plan and is in compliance with federal claiming guidelines.
- Assisting children and families in accessing needed Medicaid services.
- Increasing the number of children and adults receiving preventive care.
- Increasing consumer access to Medicaid providers in Washington communities.
