Adobe Search

What is the Adobe Search Function?

Adobe Reader 8.0 has a built-in search function.  This search function uses the Google search engine to find key words and phrases in pdf files on the internet.  By following the instructions below, you may find what you are looking for faster than just browsing our pages.

Step 1 Open Adobe Reader 8.0.  If you don't have the free reader, click here to get it.
Step 2 Move your mouse pointer over the binocular icon in the toolbar at the top of your Adobe Reader 8.0 window or press Ctrl + F.  Both of these options will bring up the Adobe Search window.

Step 3 Move your mouse pointer down to the lower right-hand side of the screen and click on the option titled "Search PDFs on the Internet."

Step 4

The search options window will appear.

At the top of the window you will have the ability to enter text into a box under the question: "What word or phrase would you like to search for?"  Type in the
word or phrase you are searching for.  For example, you might be looking for the billing instructions that explain HRSA's coverage of incontinent supplies.  You would type in incontinent supplies

To further define your search, we recommend you also type in the word HRSA prior to your search phrase.  This would mean that your entire search phrase would be: HRSA incontinent supplies.

Step 5 Finally, move your mouse pointer over Search the Internet and click. This will bring up your web browser (e.g., Microsoft Internet Explorer) and the Google search engine.  Google will search for your words or phrase automatically and you will then be able to click on all the links that Google has found relating to your words or phrase.

Google may give you the option to click on a link titled "[ More results from fortress.wa.gov ]"  If it does, click on this to get more results for your search.
