Apply for Extra Help with the Medicare
Prescription Drug Program.Who needs to apply for the EXTRA HELP? If you have Medicare and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Medicare and Medicaid, you automatically will get the extra help and DO NOT need to apply.
If you have Medicare, but you DO NOT have SSI or Medicaid, you should apply.
Pharmacists: A numbered memo for pharmacists is available to help bill HRSA for Medicare Part D co-payments for Medicaid recipients. Use this link to find Memo 06-07. An update (Word) was distributed on February 23, 2006, and a news release on the change was distributed February 17, 2006. On June 27, 2006, an additional update was issued to pharmacists on the New Prescription Eligibility Requirements.
