Governor Chris Gregoire has made children's health coverage one of her top health-care priorities in Washington State and has set a goal to see that all children in the state are enrolled in coverage by 2011. The Department of Social and Health Services has a number of programs that can help families find health care for their children. This page offers tips and guidelines for parents as well as providers and stakeholders.
Need children's health care coverage?
- Kids are considered for free health insurance first
(Medicaid and
Non-citizen programs).
- Kids who don't qualify for free insurance are screened
for low-cost health insurance
(SCHIP).
- Kids who do not meet the citizenship requirement and
have an emergent medical condition are screened for Medicaid
Alien Emergent Medical
(AEM)
