Abstract:
DEM90 is a statewide (and beyond) ARC/INFO GRID (raster) coverage depicting surface elevation. It was derived by resampling the DEM10 data layers. The DEM10 data layers were derived from USGS 10-meter DEMS (Digital Elevation Models). All source data was scanned from the hypsography (contour) separate used in the publication of USGS 7.5 minute quadrangles, and is classified as LEVEL 2 DEM. |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

These data are used for generation of contours, TINS, shaded relief, slope and aspect, intervisibility, perspective views etc. Best used for large size areas (e.g. County, WRIA, etc.). Data are a coarse resampled subset of data representing the contours on the published USGS 7.5 minute quadrangles and is suitable in most applications where the published USGS 1:100,000 or 1:250,000 scale quadrangles would otherwise suffice. NOTE: These data are not suitable for contour intervals less than 100-feet, nor SCALES LARGER THAN 1:100,000.

The DEM90 data were derived by resampling the DEM10 data layers. The DEM10 data layers were derived from USGS 10-meter DEMS (Digital Elevation Models). All source data was scanned from the hypsography (contour) separate used in the publication of USGS 7.5 minute quadrangles, and is classified as LEVEL 2 DEM.
HISTORY OF DATA: Obtained from USGS 1996-2002 as individual 7.5 minute quadrangle tiles in UTM metric. Converted into ARC lattices converting z units from meters to feet where necessary. Latticemerge lattices. Project merged lattice into State Plane South Zone, do a bilinear resample to a 33.842 foot cell size (for DEM10 layer). Further resampled to a 303.930 foot cell size.
Internal feature number.
ESRI
Elevation above sea level (in feet) associated with each data point
Number of data points with specified elevation value
Elevation above sea level (in feet) associated with each data point
Number of data points with specified elevation value
The "Value" attribute indicates elevation above sea level (in feet) associated with each data point.
Extreme care was used during the production of these data to ensure accuracy. However, due to the need to rely on outside data and processes, the Washington Department of Natural Resources cannot accept responsibility for errors or omissions, and therefore, there are no warranties which accompany these data.
